A bit about myself and RevLine Communication
PASSION
I've been into classic cars for as long as I can remember. But my big bang of motorsport? Participating in my first rally raid across North-West Africa in 2013 changed everything for me. It brought together my passions for cars, racing, travel, adventure and people. Having talked to organizers and team mangers during the event, I couldn't help but identify a shared concern between them: how the rally (and motorsport) were represented by media and the communication struggles that they endured as a result.
KNOWLEDGE
This concern really stuck with me and once home in Belgium took me me to pursue a PhD in media communication with a focus on representations of sustainability and motorsport. For about six years, I researched the topic from different approaches and worked alongside different parties in motorsport.
These years and opportunities enabled me to identify the workings of storytelling and branding. Of how people inside the sport and car culture viewed their sport but also how those outside were constantly recycling stereotypical narratives about the industry, bypassing new information about innovation and opportunity.
As my network grew, I shared insights and a helping hand to organizations in places from Watkins Glen (USA) and Spa (Belgium) to Lahti (Finland).
EXPERTISE
Having further honed my skills in marcom and brand research experience at a market research agency, I have come up with different frameworks, solutions, tips and tricks that work for building brands in our larger industry, honestly and effectively. Be it from motorsport to automotive or classic cars. Because too often, communication efforts remain trial and error with negative outcomes adding to traditional stereotyping and often costly mitigation.
PURPOSE
That's why I've created RevLine Communication: To bring the rights skills together and help people and businesses find the maximum communication potential, whether it's reaching out to fans, other stakeholders or (counter)framing media messages. It's about knowing how to approach the difficult bits correctly, much like driving on a race circuit without skidding off track when a corner or bump comes up.
